And the verdict is....

Anheuser Busch shareholders approved the merger with InBev which will create the world’s largest brewer.  Many put up a good fight but in the end, money won.  On one hand, you have an admired American owned and operated business which employs tens of thousands of people.  A company who prides themselves on being American, loves our troops and gives back to the community in so many ways.  On the other hand, you have a struggling economy where the markets have plummeted and huge corporations are on the verge of bankruptcy.  In the short term, getting $70 a share seems like a great deal and that's what seems to have happened.  People see a quick buck and will run with it.

The deal still faces regulatory approval and some say the deal could be finalized by the end of the year.  What will the future hold for Anheuser Busch, InBev and those currently employed by Anheuser Busch?  Only time will tell. According to a CNN article, Carlos Brito expanded on his plan on keeping jobs here, 'he added some conditions to this promise: "provided there are no new or increased federal tax or state excise taxes or unforeseen extraordinary events that would negatively impact A-B's business."' If promises of increased taxes on big businesses come true we may see some of our jobs going overseas and now is not the time for that.

On the bright side, it isn't a done deal.

Let's Save More than Just our Beer
Since 1852, Anheuser-Busch has been an American-owned and operated business. In addition to great tasting beer, this company has provided thousands of domestic jobs as well as millions of dollars in charitable donations to nonprofit organizations and disaster relief, and has a long history of environmental awareness. Anheuser-Busch is a huge supporter of our military and their families both here and abroad and is ranked in the ‘Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers’.

Recently in the news, talks of a hostile take over of the company by a European concern have been prevalent. Let’s band together as one voice and try to save more than just our beer. We don’t want another American icon turned over to a foreign company; we want the motto to remain…The Great American Lager.
